The United Nations says more than 197 million people worldwide are without a job, and that another 39-million have given up looking for work.

An annual report from the international labor organization says unemployment will rise by five-point-one million this year.

The UN work watchdog reports that young people are most vulnerable to the growing scarcity of jobs.

Almost 74 million people aged 15 to 24 are unemployed around the world.

Of those in advanced economies, the i-l-o says 35 percent have been out of work for six months or longer, damaging their long-term career prospects.
