MIDLAND -- Construction on the new Midland County Library Centennial Branch has been going on for months.

Now, the library has a new challenge: Moving books to the new facility.

Hundreds of thousands of books and other materials will have to be moved from the current Centennial Branch of the library -- and even from the main library -- over to the new building at Loop 250 and Whitmire Boulevard in the coming week.

Midland County commissioners approved a resolution on Monday that places Rocky Ford Moving and Storage in charge of moving the library's supplies to the new facility.

"Rocky Ford has done moving for the library when they did an asbestos abatement downtown several years ago," Midland County Library Director John Trischitti told Big 2. "And when they moved the branch from the mall to where it is now, Rocky Ford did that as well. So they have a familiarity with the library, moving those books, and have a system in place."

The genealogy material at the Midland County Library will shut down on March 1st.

The material will then be moved to the new facility.

The current Centennial Branch of the Midland County Library is slated to close on March 11th.

The contents of the branch will then be relocated to the new building.

The Midland County Library Centennial Branch is set to open on April 13th.
