MIDLAND -- An Odessa man will spend close to a decade in federal prison for distributing thousands of child pornography images through the internet.

Timothy Scott Young, Jr. was sentenced to 9 years in prison in Midland federal court on February 28th.

Young, 24, will spend the rest of his life on supervised release once his sentence is complete.

Young kept 6,041 child porn images and 27 videos of child porn on a computer at his Odessa home.

Several images featured adult men having sex with children -- both boys and girls -- between the ages of 3 and 12.

Young used a peer-to-peer network to send the pornographic out to other users.

An undercover F.B.I. agent in Phoenix, AZ downloaded 18 of the files from Young's computer on November 17, 2010.

Agents then used a federal search warrant to seize two computers and a number of digital storage devices from Young's home on June 14, 2011.

Agents reportedly found the pornographic images on the seized devices.

Young pleaded guilty to federal distribution of child pornography charges on September 18, 2012.
