BREWSTER COUNTY -- Skeletal remains found in southeastern Brewster County could belong to a drug trafficker who was reportedly killed on the job.

The Alpine Avalanche is reporting that the remains are possibly those of a man who was killed while running drugs through the Bullis Gap Ranch area of southeastern Brewster County.

United States Border Patrol agents on line watch duties found the remains in a remote area of southeastern Brewster County (about 37 miles south of U.S. 90) on February 26th.

Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson says that the remains might have been sitting where they were found for a year or so.

Meanwhile, Dodson says that United States Marshals got information about a potential dead body in the area from a federal prison in December 2012.

The prisoner reportedly told the Marshals that a man had been killed in eastern Brewster County while carrying drugs.

The skeletal remains have been sent off for forensic testing.

However, Dodson is calling the Marshals to the crime scene to see if the remains are of the alleged drug trafficker that the federal prisoner allegedly referenced.
