Midland -- Over the years, we've seen how a number of processes have impacted the oil and gas energy. There's been 3D seismic, directional drilling and a lot more. Now, one man says the availability to capture waste heat energy can also have a big impact on the industry...especially when it comes to saving money.

According to Richard Erdlac, owner of Erdlac Energy Consulting, there are a number of different processes in the oil and gas industry where waste heat energy is either thrown up into the atmosphere or removed from a system.

"For example, turbines (and) engines that might be used on a drilling rig or might be used with compressors at a gas treatment plant where your compressing natural gas into a pipeline, those are areas where a lot of waste heat ends up being developed," said Erdlac.

He said these are areas where companies can capture that heat on-site using a Gulf Coast Green Energy ElectraTherm Green Machine and actually begin to generate some of their own power and, in turn, save some money. "If a company is paying say over 7 cents a kilowatt hour, they're going to see some significant savings," he said.

Erdlac say there are four areas in the oil and gas industry that are prime for taking advantage waste heat capture. Those include oil and gas drilling sites, flares, gas compression sites and amine processing.

"It's not as exciting as exploration for oil and gas, but it is a way to save a company money. Obviously, right now, that's something that ends up being very important. How your operating expenses can be decreased overtime and that's what this is about," stressed Erlac.

If you're interested in taking advantage of these savings or simply want to learn more, you can contact Erdlac Energy Consulting by calling 432-699-5288 or emailing rjerdlac@att.net.
