Will Muschamp must have gotten tired of waiting.  The coach-in-waiting at The University of Texas was set to take over after Mack Brown retired.

But with no apparent retirement date in sight and the opportunity to return to his former hometown of Gainesville, Florida at take over as head coach of the Florida Gators.

Muschamp's departure leaves holes at both offensive and defensive coordinator for the Longhorns.

Former Miami head coach Randy Shannon is being speculated as a possible replacement for Muschamp; however, no formal interviews have taken place.  Muschamp leaves Texas after three years as defensive coordinator.
