The Midland College volleyball program has proven to be one of the best in junior college athletics. So it seems appropriate that the Lady Chaps next coach would come within the system.

Tammie Jimenez was introduced as the head volleyball coach Thursday on the campus of Midland College. Jimenez is a west Texas native who played high school volleyball at Alpine, and continued her career at Frank Phillips College in Borger. She has served as an assistant volleyball coach for M.C. since 2007, under her predecessor Kimberly Boone.

Jimenez said her experience with such a storied program is an advantage, but at the same time it will serve as a great challenge.

"Coach Boone did a great job building our program after Coach Elder, and so to take over after the success that we've had is very exciting," said Jimenez. "It's a very trying time, but challenges are always good."
